The Great Exhale: Byron’s Shift into the Second Summer
Most people think summer ends in January, but in Byron Bay, February and March are actually the best months to visit. At Hide, we see the pace change as the peak holiday crowds leave and the town settles into a much more manageable rhythm.
The Best Ocean Conditions
While the air starts to cool slightly, the Pacific is at its warmest during these two months, averaging a steady 26°C. It’s arguably the best time of year for swimming and surfing. The water is clear, the humidity of mid-summer has dropped, and the crowds at The Pass are significantly smaller. If you’re into diving or snorkelling, visibility at Julian Rocks is usually at its annual peak right now.
Easter and Bluesfest
If you are planning a trip around the Easter long weekend, you’ll catch the Byron Bay Bluesfest. It’s a major event for the region and brings a great energy to town. Staying at Hide during this time gives you the best of both worlds: you can head in for the music and the festival atmosphere, then head back to our sanctuary to get away from the noise.
The Shift to Stillness
You’ll notice the "golden hour" starts a bit earlier, casting a much softer light across the property. As the upcoming season approaches, Hide really comes into its own. It’s an invitation for slower starts, staying in, and enjoying our Wellness Bathhouse at a gentler pace. It is the perfect time to retreat, reset, and simply breathe a bit deeper.
To help you plan your winter retreat, we are currently offering Early Booker rates with up to 15% off our Standard Rate for stays between 20 April and 25 June. This offer is available for bookings made from now until 31st March, 2026, subject to availability.
A Local’s Pace
This is when you can actually get a table at your favourite spots or find a park near the beach. Whether it’s grabbing a coffee at Top Shop or heading to the Thursday Farmers Market for local macadamias and seasonal produce, everything feels less rushed. February and March aren't the end of the season - they are just a more relaxed version of it.
