A Day Trip to Lennox Head
Just 25 minutes south of Hide, Lennox Head offers a slower pace and a refreshing change of scene, perfect for a quiet day away without venturing too far.
Start with a Scenic Drive
Lennox Head is just a short and beautiful drive down the coast from Hide. With fewer crowds in winter, it’s the ideal time to explore at your own pace and soak up the coastal charm.
Start at Shelter
Begin your visit with a meal at Shelter, a beautiful spot perched right across from the beach. Whether you’re after a long lunch, a drink at golden hour, or dinner with ocean views, the seasonal menu never disappoints. Think fresh produce, house-made pasta, local seafood, and a well-curated wine list – all served with a view of the waves.
Slow down at The Bookroom Collective
Next, wander down to The Bookroom Collective, a warm and welcoming bookstore connected to the beloved Book Room at Byron. With a thoughtful selection of new titles and timeless classics, it’s the kind of place you’ll want to linger in. You’ll also find great gifts, stationery, and magazines - perfect for a browse between stops.
Swim or stroll
If the sun’s out, float in the tea tree-stained waters of Lake Ainsworth - known for its calming properties - or take a coastal walk up to Lennox Point. The views are incredible, and during whale season, it’s one of the best spots to see them pass by.
Wine at Smokey’s
Before heading back, stop in at Smokey’s, a new favourite in town. This wine bar and bottle shop offers a great selection of natural and minimal-intervention wines, served in a relaxed, friendly space. Have a glass at the bar or pick up a bottle to bring back with you.
Return to Hide
After your Lennox escape, come back to Hide and wind down in the Wellness Bathhouse, or enjoy a quiet evening by the heated pool. The perfect end to a perfect day.
